About Us
Written by Andrew Oon

MySplash dot Net has come a long way since I started it as a personal homepage in year 2000. Back then, this website was known as AndrewOon dot Com and was only meant as a blog for my rants.

On 6th July 2004, I formed my swimming team known as PISA Swimming Team. With the birth of my swimmimg team, I decided that this website could be more than just a personal blog. As a result of that, MySplash dot Net emerged.

Why "MySplash"?

The prefix "My" was meant to symbolize Malaysia, while "Splash" was meant to symbolize the impact, waves and contributions that I had made and would come to make with this website.

Initially, this site was meant to be a "sounding board" or a place where members of the swimming commununity could congregate to voice their thoughts and opinions in the sport. But as time passed, MySplash dot Net grew into what it is today -- an online swimming community, not only for Malaysia but also for the world.

In mid-2008, I decided to part ways with my web hosting provider. This was a major move for me, a move that many people thought would spell doom for MySplash. But I took the risk anyway, and in so doing, I lost all member registrations, forum posts, etc. In short, the entire MySplash database was lost in the move and I had to rebuild MySplash dot Net from scratch.

My gamble paid off. On 9 October 2008, MySplash dot Net re-emerged -- improved, with more features and more importantly, with better server stability and security.

Today, MySplash dot Net is slowly being re-populated, and the forums are expanding -- a good sign for the site.

For those of you who have been with me and supported me right from the start, I thank you. As the site evolved, I have been very fortunate to have people stepping up to contribute with ideas, opinions and downloads, as well as suggest improvements. Your continued support is invaluable to me.

I hope you will like and enjoy the new MySplash dot Net. I hope also that every visit you make to MySplash is a beneficial and enjoyable one. Regrettably, my limited coding skills is a barrier to the site's growth, but if you feel you have the necessary coding skills that can expand the site, please do not hesitate to email me at admin[at]mysplash.net (replace [at] with @).
